London Art Week Winter 2017 ~ "A Fashionable Likeness: 16th and 17th Century Portraiture with Contemporary Jewellery & Miniatures"

For the inaugural Winter edition of London Art Week (1 - 8 December), The Weiss Gallery is delighted to hold a special exhibition of 16th and 17th century portraits, curated with an emphasis on costume and jewellery, presented alongside specially commissioned wearable accessories and miniatures inspired by the works on show. These have been created by contemporary artists and jewellers – Matt and Amanda Caines, and portraitist and silversmith, Debra Weiss.

"Courting Favour: From Elizabeth I to James I" - An Exhibition of Tudor & Jacobean Portraits, 26th June - 14th July 2017

To coincide with this year’s London Art Week, 30th June - 7th July 2017, The Weiss Gallery is holding an exhibition dedicated to Tudor and Jacobean court portraiture, entitled: Courting Favour: From Elizabeth I to James I.

The centerpiece of the show will be a beautiful portrayal of the youthful Queen Elizabeth I, a bust-length version of the magnificent 'Hampden' fulllength, currently on loan to Tate Britain. Displayed either side of the Queen will be portraits of her two great favourites Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester and Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex.
